Mathematical Technologies Delivers Intellideck on New SGI Platforms

Booth S4137, NAB, April 23, 2001 - Mathematical Technologies Inc. (MTI), Providence, RI, announced today that MTI IntelliDeck® software will be delivered and fully supported on the SGI DMediaPro family of advanced digital media products including the Silicon Graphics® Octane2™ visual workstation with DMediaPro DM2 and the SGI™ 3000 family of systems with DMediaPro DM3.

MTI IntelliDeck is an array of software modules that can be flexibly configured for a wide variety of tasks in film and video post-production and digital film mastering. MTI offers special software suites using MTI IntelliDeck modules for targeted purposes. The Restoration Software Suite, for example, polishes new releases and restores the classics. It is widely used for mastering feature films and episodics and for preparing material for DVD or for digital cinema. The possible software configurations are highly scalable, ranging from simply emulating a VTR on a workstation or server to managing server-based telecine control, color correction, and pan and scan format conversion.

Since its introduction to the market five years ago, MTI software has leveraged SGI's industry leadership in computer systems and I/O products for digital video and audio. With SGI's introduction of the DMediaPro family, all MTI IntelliDeck software will be available on the Silicon Graphics Octane2 visual workstation with DMediaPro DM2 and both the SGI™ Onyx® 3000 and SGI™ Origin® 3000 platforms with DMediaPro DM3.

"With the introduction of the DMediaPro digital media products, SGI reinforces its position as provider of the premier workstation and server platforms for film and video post-production," said Donald McClure, President, Mathematical Technologies Inc.(MTI). "MTI embraced SGI's introduction of industry leading HD I/O products in 1999. We are excited now to make MTI IntelliDeck software available on Octane2 with DMediaPro DM2 and on Onyx/Origin 3000 Series systems with DMediaPro DM3."

"MTI's applications for digital cinema mastering and restoration have always taken advantage of the capabilities of the latest Silicon Graphics workstations and digital media products. We believe that applications such as MTI IntelliDeck, coupled with the new price/performance of the Octane2 with DMediaPro DM2, will accelerate film restoration projects around the world," said Greg Estes, Vice President and General Manager, Telecommunications and Media, SGI.
